The first week of summer vacation was a busy one for the Kadey family's minivan. Teenage daughter Kylie attended 3 sleepovers, 1 birthday party, 1 bonfire burning of school papers, and 1 youth group burger bash. The only time the family has seen her has been while traveling in the car from one event to another. Erin Kadey, mother of Kylie, was dreading the thought of her daughter getting her driver's licence, but is now said to be eagerly awaiting it.
And what have the other Kadey children been up to?
KIAN graduated from preschool and had a lovely ceremony in which he watched his classmates sing the requisite song while mutely standing there with his tassel hanging right between his eyes. He now spends his free time teasing his sister Kelsea and asking for gum every 10 minutes.
KELSEA continues to be bored. The two page list of "things to do when you are bored" provided by her mother has proven futile. The only thing that sparks Kelsea's interest is doing a craft project WITH her mother. Kelsea's mother, however, has spent the last 13 years doing craft projects and really has no desire to ever see another popsicle stick or pipe cleaner.
KARA is gearing up for Volleyball at TRCS next year. In the coming week, she will spend 16 hours in conditioning and training at Volleyball day camp. Then she will join the summer league to get some experience before games start in the fall. Kara continues to request that her mother practice with her, and despite the traumatic memory of being rendered unconscious as a teenager by a volleyball to the face, Erin stepped up to the occasion. Daughter Kara was not impressed by how well her mother could duck each time the ball came over the net.
